On the hills of Lundra, near Tirana, where a once fertile marshland stretched, nature has left behind a rich legacy that evokes memories of a timeless past. According to the legend, these hilltops served as anchorages for the boats of early settlers. When the waters receded, they left behind fertile lands, ideal for cultivating high-quality grapes. This tale perfectly connects with the inspiration for the logo of KantinaLundra, where the boatman on a boat symbolizes not only the connection to the region’s history and geography but also carries forward the commitment and dedication to the land and its bounties. We care for this land in an artisanal way, crafting excellent wines that are enjoyed today.
This story, filled with tradition and legend, aligns with the passion and work of the Tufa family for winemaking. Our late father, Xhevdet (Xhoda) Tufa, the founder of the winery, laid the foundation of the enterprise as a small workshop right after the fall of the oppressive communist regime, inheriting the vineyards of the state cooperative, which he and the locals had worked so hard to cultivate, even protecting them from new threats under the new system. With sacrifice, dedication, and love for the land, he mastered this unique art and passed it on to his children, who later transformed the family workshop into a modern-standard winery.
The last decade was decisive, Xhoda’s second son, along with his brothers, friends, and their best partners, built and established Kantina Lundra as one of the most reputable wineries today in the Balkans and beyond.
In this part of Albania, where the sun caresses every grape and the wind gently embraces the fertile vineyards, the Tufa family has cultivated and preserved the art of growing indigenous grape varieties like Sheshi i Zi and Sheshi i Bardhë for four generations. In addition to these, the LundraWinery also cultivates a wide range of international varieties, including Teroldego, Chardonnay, Muscat Ottonel, Syrah, Cabernet, Merlot, and Solaris. Through collaborations with masters from renowned European wineries in France and Italy, the winery has adopted the highest standards and integrated best practices in winemaking.
Today, Lundra Winery is more than a wine producer. It represents a living testament to a realized dream, a love story for the land and tradition, embodied in every glass we offer. With pride in the past and an eye toward the future, we are committed to continuing this precious legacy, offering wines that reflect the Tufa family’s passion and dedication to the art of winemaking.
