A LEGACY OF
WINE PRODUCTION
WITH A RICH HERITAGE
The history of wine production in Albania is a long-standing tradition passed down from generation. Ancient Illyrian records indicate that wine from places such as Lundër, Mirditë, Zadrimë, and Nartë was exported outside of the country in the middle ages, even making its way to the Vatican. The surrounding areas such as Petrela, Dajti, Farka, Sauku, and more have played an important role in Lundra region’s benefits, including its ideal microclimate for viticulture. Such conditions make the area perfect for natural, culinary, and cultural tourism.

CENTURIES-OLD VINEYARDS WITH AUTOCHTHONOUS CULTIVARS DOCUMENTED BY PLINY

Among its long-standing vineyards, Lundra houses some of the 100 autochthonous cultivars documented by Pliny in his 'De Natyralis Historia'. Protecting the venerable names of Vlosh, Kallmet, Shesh, Pula, Mjaltëz, Mereshnik, and Kryqës, the region has kept this part of its heritage alive for centuries.

Wine has been and continues to be one of the favorite drinks of Albanians and has accompanied the generosity and hospitality of our people for centuries. In Albania, the cultivation of the vine is one of the oldest and at the same time noblest human activities. However, a sufficient level of scientific knowledge of the technology of soil preparation and planting of seedlings is required in order to obtain quality vineyards. For years, the Tufa family winery has been dedicated to all these processes, enriching the Albanian tradition in the cultivation of viticulture.
